Here are 3 ways to have a great week . . .
Set yourself up to achieve what you want to …
- Just do it. The first step is always the hardest but it is by far the most important one needed if you want to get from where you are to where you want to be. We all have what I refer to as excusplanations, our own reasons for not being ready to move forward. Thinking we are being impulsive, a lack of self - confidence, and analysis paralysis are just a few of the excusplanations that come to mind. Even though some reasons may be justified, sometimes, you just need to jump in with both feet and get started.
Put the effort in to create a specific, workable and measurable plan with timelines that you can commit to being true to. Having a pie in the sky plan is a wonderful idea as long as it is attainable. For instance, it's wonderful to have a goal to go to Mars next spring, however, in reality, not likely to happen. Moving across country, however, much more possible. Be honest with yourself.
Break it up into small bits so that you don't feel overwhelmed. Divide each step of your plan into a checklist and starting working each task. Your progress may not look linear, but it will definitely be moving you in the right direction.
Put your head in the game. Focus on the goal, not the distractions. If you want a promotion in the next round, and you need to obtain a certification to do so, then do what you need to do. Maybe your time would be better spent studying that taking up 3 days a week by joining a video game league. You can always join the league once you get that promotion, and it may not even affect your budget to do so.
Get comfortable with not having everything be perfect. Perfection is only what you believe it to be. If you shoot for the moon and only end up in the stars, its still a pretty amazing place to be.
- Remember your WHY. Don't just go through the motions and do things for no reason. Think hard about why you wanted to go for this goal in the first place, set a daily reminder on your phone if you need to. If you can’t connect the dots between the task you need to do, or the thoughts you need to have and the big picture of your goal, then stop doing it. And, if it's a task that you don't like doing - such as watching your spending - a strong enough why will help get you through until you can spend as you wish.
- Confront your Gremlins. You don't need to pay attention to the words being said by your negative inner voice that loves to list out the thousand reasons why you are going to fail and scream at you that you just aren't good enough. Instead, confront the Gremlins, reframe what they are saying to be helpful, and even positive. By doing this you are not creating a false reality, rather your starting to change your perspective and bring about empowering behaviors that will allow for acknowledging feelings and overcoming obstacles.
REMEMBER . . . YOU GOT THIS!
